KELA
Kenosha Emerging Leaders Academy (KELA)
KELA is a community center in Kenosha, WI designed to provide resources in technology, career development, and education, to young people in underfunded neighborhoods. The city partnered with businesses like Best Buy to provide training and education in technical vocations.
Challenge
The goal was to create a vibrant brand identity that appeals to an audience of young people and can potentially generate excitement and recognition around the new community center among the residents of Kenosha. Deliverables included brand identity (logo, typography, color) environmental graphics and signage, tagline, social media designs, stationery, brand guidelines, and wearables.
Solution
The logo symbol is built using a 3 x 3 grid to represent nine partners existing under KELA’S roof. The adjoining pieces represent themes of connectivity and community and nod to an image of heads coming together in a team-like formation. The modularity of the logo allows it to be split apart and re-joined in a multitude of formations, lending to a multifaceted design applied to the various applications of the brand.
